Fashion for Compassion Show
September 27th, 2008
Fashion for Compassion: Bloomingdale Library Victim Fundraiser Tampa Convention Center
333 S. Franklin St.
Tampa, FL 33602
A few weeks ago, we received an email from Michelle Phan relating this tragic story:
To Whom It May Concern,
Two weeks before high school graduation, an 18 year old girl stopped by her local library late at night to return her books. She was later found brutally raped and beaten half to death. The victim is now suffering from brain damage, unable to speak or move, and is now blind. Due to the incident, her family is nearly bankrupt and her Medicaid recently expired. She had a full ride scholarship to a University. Now, her recent progress was lifting her head for merely 10 seconds.
After hearing about this story, we were inspired to help the victim and her family. We are hosting a fashion show fundraiser on September 27, 2008. We believe your support will greatly benefit this event.
Please, inform us if there is anything needed to make it a possibility. Hopefully, we will be working together for a great cause.
We agreed help with the show - all benefits will be going to the victim's family. If you are local to the area and have a free moment in your schedule, please consider attending the event and showing your support for the victim and her family.
More information can be found at
http://www.fashionforcompassion.eventbrite.com and http://www.xanga.com/RiceBunny/671158636/fashion-for-compassionwe-need-your-help.html,
and we sincerely hope that this event is a great success so that the victim's family will have less of a financial burden as they take care of their daughter, and that she recovers steadily from this tragedy.

Heya! We're still in the process of updating all the other sections of the website, but we're sad (and happy!) to say that everything is sold out at the moment! Thank you so much for your support, and stay tuned for our next update! <3
As promised, here're the awesome pictures we took from Comic Con!
It was great seeing all of you at Comic Con and Anime Expo this year, and we wanted to say a great big THANK YOU! for everyone who stopped by to say hi, to say secret passphrases and of course, for all of your support as always. You can see the rest in the gallery, and thanks again to everyone who came by! Now back to the drawing board... stay tuned!
(Toto will be signing prints at the Tofu Girls Booth #520 this Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Toto is a successful artist from Taiwan who is known for her colorful and surrealistic images of characters and environments. She is very happy and excited to be making new friends and fans outside of Taiwan and has overcome huge obstacles in her life to be where she is now. Diagnosed with a rare disease that eventually causes the patient to lose their vision, she has courageously battled the disease to continue with her life's passion - to make art that inspires people.
Her use of color is done in such a way as to move the eye of the viewer deeper into the piece. Once inside her drawings, viewers will not find a simple black and white meaning; rather, her artwork engages people by allowing them to relate their own interpretations and choices upon the work.
Memory and life are commonly intertwined with symbolic meaning in Toto's images. The reason for this is tied to her own experience with the disease, as she spent a short period living in darkness. During this period, she gained much from embracing sound and music as a means to escape the possibility of never seeing again. When she could draw, she used her memory to choose the colors in the computer programs she was familiar with. Now, with her sight restored she has grown immensely from her struggles. Thus, the rhythm and harmony in her art is comparable to the experience of music.
And now, Toto is happy to be able to share her art with a much broader and engaged audience here in the United States.
